Dehradun: The state has been wounded by a large number of natural disasters in nine years. There have been incidents ranging from excessive rainfall-fast floods to cloud bursts.

There has been a huge loss of life and property in this. The Disaster Management Department prepares details of road accidents, fire, landslides, earthquakes, floods, insect attacks, avalanches, excessive rainfall-fast floods, lightning, hailstorms, storms, drowning, flooding, wild animal attacks, cloud bursts, forest fires, spread of diseases, electric current, forest fires in the state.

Information about deaths, injuries, missing is collected in these incidents. Apart from this, a record of partial and complete damage to houses is kept. The data of the Disaster Management Department from the year 2015 to 2024 shows that thousands of disasters are occurring every year.

Most of these are of heavy rainfall-flash floods, of which 12758 incidents have occurred. Apart from this, landslides also remain a challenge. More than four thousand landslide incidents have occurred in various districts. Clouds have also burst 67 times. Most cloud burst incidents have occurred in Pauri district.

1525 incidents occurred in Uttarkashi

In Uttarkashi, 1525 incidents of landslides, floods, heavy rainfall-flash floods, avalanches, lightning, hailstorm, cloud burst, forest fire, etc. have occurred in nine years. During this period, cloud burst incident has been reported in the district only once.

Efforts are made to reduce the effects of natural disasters. Treatment work has been done at the places where landslides have occurred. Apart from this, studies have also been conducted.
