Weather Forecast: Heavy rain wreaks havoc from Delhi-UP to MP; IMD issues orange alert

New Delhi: The weather has changed today in many parts of the country.

The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of strong winds and heavy rains in many states including Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Bihar.

As soon as the monsoon became active, there is a cloud cover in the sky from Delhi to MP, UP, Uttarakhand, Himachal and Bihar.

Yellow alert in Delhi

A yellow alert has been issued in East Delhi, Central Delhi, South-East Delhi and Shahdara. Heavy rain is expected in many areas of the national capital Delhi on Sunday.

Heavy rains may increase the problem of waterlogging and traffic jams. On Saturday, the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 23.8 degrees Celsius, which is 2.7 degrees below normal. The maximum temperature is expected to be up to 33 degrees.

Orange alert in Uttar Pradesh and MP

Monsoon is fully active in Uttar Pradesh and MP. Heavy rain is expected in many districts of UP including Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras and Etah. Orange alert for rain has also been issued in other districts including Agra, Firozabad, Bijnor and Moradabad. At the same time, due to the effect of the trough going from Guna and Damoh of Madhya Pradesh to the Bay of Bengal, heavy rain is expected in many districts of the state on Saturday. IMD has predicted heavy rain in Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Burhanpur, Alirajpur, Dhar, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur and Pandhurna

Danger in Himachal and Uttarakhand

Heavy rain warning has been issued in ten districts of Himachal Pradesh including Una, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Chamba. There is a possibility of flash floods and landslides. Heavy to very heavy rains are also expected in Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Bageshwar in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has also declared an orange alert here.

Condition of Bihar and northeastern states

Rain has brought relief in Bihar but the danger of thunderstorms remains. In many districts, the water of the Ganges has entered the low-lying areas, affecting lakhs of people. Heavy rains are expected in the northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for the next 5 days.

Meteorological Department's Forecast

The Meteorological Department said that in early September will provide relief from the heat and the weather will remain pleasant.

Meanwhile, people in the hilly states need to be cautious as there is an increased risk of natural disasters along with rain.
