Weather Update: 7% more rainfall than normal in country, how much rain fell in which state during monsoon?

New Delhi: It is raining heavily in different parts of the country at this time. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the data of rainfall so far.

According to the IMD, India has recorded 7 percent more rainfall than normal so far after the onset of monsoon from June 1 this year, but the distribution of rain has been uneven in the states.

According to the IMD, 447.8 mm of rain has been recorded so far, while the normal average is 418.9 mm. However, there has been a lot of variation in the rainfall data at the regional level. According to IMD data, Rajasthan, Ladakh, Nagaland, Manipur and Sikkim have recorded "much more than normal" rainfall. Which has been placed in the category of "Large Excess Rainfall".

State wise data of rain

Rajasthan has received 384.7 mm rainfall so far, whereas the normal rainfall there is 200.4 mm. Which is 92 percent more. Similarly, Ladakh, where there is usually less rainfall, received 30 mm rainfall as compared to 10.7 mm. Which is 181 percent more than normal. Nagaland and Manipur received 514.5 mm and 457.9 mm rainfall respectively, which is close to normal. While 598.4 mm rainfall was recorded in Sikkim. Which is 78 percent more than normal.

Rain made records in these states

The states and union territories which have received 'excess rainfall' (20 to 59 percent more than normal) include Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Jharkhand and Assam. Madhya Pradesh has recorded 645.8 mm rainfall so far, which is 54 percent more than normal. The normal rainfall is 418.4 mm. Gujarat received 463.2 mm rainfall, which is 35 percent more. While the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu received 1466.1 mm rainfall, which is an increase of 27 percent.
