Weather Update: Heavy rain in some states, heat in others; IMD issues alerts

New Delhi: These days India's weather is exhibiting a variety of trends. While it is hot in some places it is raining heavily in others. Mumbai is experiencing extreme waterlogging as a result of the intense rains. In the meantime Telangana and Kerala are also getting rain. Kerala and Telangana have received warnings of heavy rain from Maharashtra according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). In contrast a heat alert has been issued for Uttar Pradesh.

Let's look at the weather by state.

Mumbai

Mumbai is experiencing severe rain and waterlogging. Heavy rain is causing chaos in Mumbai. Transportation services have been hampered by waterlogging on railroad tracks and roadways. Two people lost their lives in a landslide in Vikhroli and numerous others were hurt.

Kerala

Five districts in Kerala are on orange alert. On Saturday Kerala saw a lot of rain. Five districts—Ernakulam Idukki Thrissur Kannur and Kasaragod—were under an orange alert from the IMD. They issued a yellow alert to the other nine districts.

In the state strong winds of up to 40 km/h are also anticipated. Telangana is on a heavy rain alert the chief minister gives instructions. There is also a heavy rain alert in effect for

Telangana

Officials have been instructed to prepare for relief efforts by CM Revanth Reddy. It is anticipated that districts such as Nizamabad Sangareddy Medak Khammam and Vikarabad will experience moderate to heavy rainfall.

In locations that are anticipated to experience significant rainfall NDRF and SDRF teams have been stationed. In districts like Adilabad and Karimnagar a number of small rivers and bodies of water are growing. Tamsi in Adilabad for instance received 173 and a half millimeters of rain on Saturday between 8:30 am and 1 pm while Talmadugu received 169 and a half millimeters.

According to the IMD Adilabad Komaram Bheem Asifabad and other places could experience very heavy to extremely heavy rain from August 16 afternoon to August 17 morning.

Uttar Pradesh

The monsoon activity in Uttar Pradesh has slowed so there wont be much rain over the next three to four days with the exception of a few light showers. The weather will become uncomfortable as a result of the decrease in rainfall since heat and humidity will increase.

It is anticipated that fewer clouds will result in higher daytime and nighttime temperatures. Light rain and sporadic clouds are possible in some areas of the Terai region in western Uttar Pradesh though.
