New Delhi: Residents across Delhi-NCR woke up to pleasant weather on Tuesday morning as light rainfall brought relief from the recent rise in temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the next two days, warning of more rain and changing weather conditions.

Rain, Thunderstorms Expected Till Wednesday

According to the weather department, Delhi is likely to experience very light to light rainfall on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40kmph are expected, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. People can also expect cloudy skies and occasional strong winds during this period. The IMD has indicated that there could be one or two short spells of rain or thunderstorms over these two days.

Weather Update: Thunderstorms, rain likely in Delhi-NCR and Haryana; IMD issues alert

Cooler Temperatures Bring Temporary Relief

The rainfall and cloud cover are expected to bring down temperatures slightly. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature may stay around 31°C, while the minimum could drop to about 20°C. This dip will make mornings and evenings feel cooler than usual. However, this relief will be short lived. From April 10 onwards, the weather is expected to clear, and temperatures will gradually rise again, reaching around 33–34°C.

Weather Conditions in Noida and Gurugram

Neighbouring areas will see similar weather patterns.

1) Noida is likely to have partly cloudy skies with occasional rain or thundershowers. Temperatures may range between 27–31°C during the day and 17–18°C at night.

2)Gurugram is also expected to experience cloudy conditions with light rain. The temperature is likely to stay between 30–31°C during the day and 15–16°C at night.

What’s Causing the Sudden Weather Change?

The sudden shift in the weather is mainly due to a western disturbance affecting the region. This weather system is bringing moisture, cloud cover, and stronger winds, leading to rainfall and a temporary drop in temperatures across Delhi-NCR.

Weather Update: Heavy rain in Northeast, strong winds expected from Himachal to Odisha

What to Expect Next

While April 9 may still see partly cloudy skies, clearer weather is expected from April 10 onward. As the skies clear, temperatures will begin to rise again, bringing back warmer conditions to the region.
