Weather Update: Thunderstorms, rain likely in Delhi-NCR and Haryana; IMD issues alert

The India Meteorological Deartment has forecast thunderstorms, rain, and lightning across Delhi-NCR, Haryana, and several northern states. Strong winds of up to 40 kmph are expected, with gusts reaching 70 kmph in some areas.

New Delhi: The weather in the National Capital Region (NCR) is set to change once again. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), strong thunderstorms, rain, and lightning are expected across the entire NCR, including Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad. Strong winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are expected during this period. The Meteorological Department has advised people to remain vigilant.

Temperatures to Drop, Partly Cloudy

On April 3rd, the maximum temperature is expected to be 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum 21 degrees Celsius. On April 4th, the temperature is expected to hover around 33/20 degrees Celsius. However, strong thunderstorms and rain will be expected in the afternoon and evening. The weather will remain similar on April 5th, with temperatures expected to drop further by April 6th.

Impact in North India, Alert in Several States

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is likely at some places in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and eastern Rajasthan are expected to experience strong winds of 50 to 60 kmph, gusting up to 70 kmph, on April 3 and 4. Thunderstorms are expected in these areas.

Rain and Snowfall in Mountainous Areas

Light to moderate rain and snowfall are expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir. Lightning and strong winds (30-50 kmph) are also possible in these areas. The Meteorological Department has advised caution in these states.

Possibility of Hailstorms and Storms in Rajasthan

Thunderstorms and hailstorms are expected in many parts of Rajasthan until April 4. Weather changes have been observed in Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, and Bikaner during the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, cities like Barmer, Jodhpur, Kota, and Udaipur recorded temperatures between 35 and 36 degrees Celsius.

Weather Changes in South India

Tamil Nadu is also experiencing a change in weather. Light to moderate rain is expected in the southern parts of the state, while temperatures may gradually increase. Rainfall activity may increase slightly on April 3 and 4, with thunderstorms expected at some locations.

Advice for Caution

In view of the inclement weather, the Meteorological Department has advised people to remain vigilant, stay away from open spaces, and take necessary precautions. This change in weather may impact normal life in the coming days.
