Rain Alert in Northeast, Gusty Winds Across States
New Delhi: The weather across the country is experiencing a complete change these days. In some places, it's experiencing intense heat, while others are experiencing rain and thunderstorms. A period of heavy rain has begun in Northeast India, while hailstorms are threatening some areas of Bihar and West Bengal. Meanwhile, in South India, temperatures in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, reached 41.5 degrees Celsius, while Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, recorded a minimum temperature of 15.4 degrees Celsius.
The weather in Delhi-NCR and surrounding areas is expected to remain pleasant. According to the Meteorological Department, the sky will remain cloudy, with light rain or thundershowers possible. Strong winds are also expected, which will bring down temperatures and provide relief from the heat. In the past 24 hours, light rain has been recorded in many parts of Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
An orange alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. These areas are expected to receive rainfall ranging from 64.5 to 115.5 mm. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may also experience heavy rainfall and strong winds. Continuous rainfall has increased the risk of waterlogging in low-lying areas and landslides in hilly areas.
Strong winds and thunderstorms will also be felt in many parts of the country. Wind speeds could reach 50 to 60 kmph in West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, and Odisha. Strong winds are also expected in some areas of Assam, Bihar, Telangana, and Rajasthan.
This changing weather pattern may also impact agriculture. Heavy rain and hailstorms are likely to cause crop damage. Farmers have been advised to ensure proper drainage in their fields and store harvested crops in a safe place. Covering young plants and nurseries and taking measures to protect them from hailstorms will be beneficial.
The Meteorological Department has urged people to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. Especially during rain and strong winds, people are advised to stay in safe places and avoid unnecessary travel.
