New Delhi: World Day Against Child Labour is being celebrated today with the aim of spreading awareness against child labour at the global level. Every year on 12 June the day is observed, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The main objective of this day is to draw global attention to the prevalence of child labour and the urgent action needed to eliminate it.

It emphasizes on protecting the rights of children and providing them with opportunities for education, health and development.

Child labour is a serious human rights violation that impairs the physical, mental, social and moral development of children. World Child Labour Prohibition Day was started by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in the year 2002.

Theme Of World Day Against Child Labour 2025

The theme of World Day Against Child Labour 2025 is: "Progress is clear, but there's more to do: let's speed up efforts!"

This theme recognizes that there has been progress at the global level in reducing child labour, but at the same time it also warns that millions of children are still trapped in child labour and there is an urgent need to accelerate efforts in this direction.

Every Year Different Theme

The International Labour Organization started 'World Day Against Child Labour' in the year 2002 to eliminate child labour and take necessary action. However, every year different themes are kept on this occasion. Through the theme, individuals, government and non-government organizations are inspired to eliminate this problem.

One In Ten Children Does Child Labour

According to the United Nations, for the last two decades, continuous initiatives have been taken to reduce child labour all over the world. However, during the last few years, conflicts, crises and the Corona epidemic have pushed many families in the world into poverty, due to which millions of children have been forced into child labour.

According to a United Nations report, today about 160 million children are engaged in child labour in many countries of the world, which is one in every ten children in the world.

Importance

It is known that the main reason for child labour is poverty, due to which children are forced to leave their studies and choose labour. However, many children are forced into child labour by crime rackets. The special significance of celebrating this day is to focus people's attention on the rights of children so that child labour can be stopped.
