New Delhi: It was a day filled with emotion, celebration and political messaging for Arvind Kejriwal after a special court cleared him in the high-profile Delhi excise policy case. From emotional moments outside the courtroom to jubilant celebrations with party workers, the day marked a significant political moment for the Aam Aadmi Party leader.

Court Clears Kejriwal In Excise Policy Case

Earlier in the day, the Rouse Avenue Court discharged Kejriwal along with 22 other accused in the alleged corruption case linked to the Delhi government’s now-scrapped excise policy.

The court found insufficient material to frame charges, effectively bringing relief to several leaders who had been facing allegations related to the liquor policy implemented during Kejriwal’s tenure as Chief Minister.

However, the development was quickly followed by a fresh legal move as the Central Bureau of Investigation approached the Delhi High Court, challenging the decision of the trial court. The High Court is expected to schedule a hearing on the agency’s appeal in the coming days.

Emotional Moment After Verdict

Shortly after the court pronounced its order, Kejriwal appeared visibly emotional while addressing the media. Fighting back tears, he asserted his innocence and said the verdict had vindicated him.

“I am not corrupt. I am absolutely honest,” he said, adding that the court’s decision had proved the allegations against him were baseless. The emotional moment came after years of legal and political battles over the controversial excise policy case.

Warm Welcome At Home

After leaving the court, Kejriwal returned to his residence where he was welcomed by family members with hugs and congratulations.

Standing beside him was his close political ally and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was also discharged in the case. The two leaders have worked together since their early days of activism and political mobilisation.

Grand Celebration By Party Workers

Later, Kejriwal headed to the party office, where celebrations had already begun. A large procession accompanied his car as supporters showered flower petals and played brass bands in celebration.

At one point, Kejriwal emerged through the sunroof of his vehicle, waving to cheering supporters as the convoy moved through the streets. The festive atmosphere highlighted how significant the court decision was for the party and its leadership.

Political Message Amid Legal Battle

While the celebrations continued, the legal battle may not be over yet as the appeal filed by the CBI moves to the Delhi High Court.

For Kejriwal and his party, however, the day represented both relief and renewed political momentum after one of the most contentious legal cases in recent Delhi politics.
