Hyderabad: The Telangana government today presented its annual budget for the financial year 2026-37. The total budget size is set at ₹3,24,234 crore, an increase of approximately ₹20,000 crore from the previous year. The main focus of this budget is to strike a balance between overall welfare and development.

Budget Presentation and Government Vision

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka presented the budget in the Assembly. The Finance Minister said that this budget will ensure social and economic justice for every citizen and reflect governance in line with the ideals of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. The government has prioritized the welfare of farmers, women empowerment, and youth employment.

Revenue and Capital Expenditure Details

Of the total budget, ₹2,34,406 crore has been allocated for revenue expenditure and ₹42,267 crore for capital expenditure. Additionally, a proposal has been made to borrow ₹73,383 crore as new loans.

Allocations in Key Sectors

As per sectoral allocations, the education sector has received the highest allocation of ₹26,674 crore. This is followed by the agriculture sector with ₹23,179 crore and the energy sector with ₹21,285 crore. The health sector has received ₹13,679 crore, which is less than other key sectors.

Budget Provisions for Key Schemes

The state government has also allocated substantial budgets for key welfare schemes. ₹18,000 crore has been allocated for the Rythu Bharosa Scheme, ₹14,861 crore for the Cheyutha Scheme, ₹5,500 crore for the Indiramma Housing Scheme, and ₹4,305 crore for the Mahalakshmi Scheme. Additionally, ₹50,713 crore has been allocated for the implementation of the state's six guarantees.

Economic Indicators and Increase in Per Capita Income

The budget also indicates that the state's per capita income has increased and is approximately 1.9 times higher than the national average. This indicates an improvement in the state's standard of living and economic strength.

Government's Emphasis on Holistic Development

The government states that this budget has been prepared by balancing both development and welfare, so that the benefits of schemes reach all sections of the state and overall socio-economic progress can be ensured.
