Ganeshotsav celebrations mark new beginnings and removal of obstacles
Hyderabad: The famous Balapur Ganesh Visarjan Shobha Yatra kicked off with traditional bhajans at Balapur village in Rangareddy district on Saturday. Balapur Ganesh is known for its Ganesh laddu auction, where last year Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kolan Shankar Reddy bought the laddu for Rs 30.01 lakh.

BJP leader Ramachandra Rao said, "I went to visit Khairatabad Ganesh idol today. I was thrilled to see the tallest Ganesh idol. Its height remains the same every year and the puja is performed with full devotion,"
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that the state government has provided all the facilities to celebrate Ganesh Utsav with grandeur and gaiety, which also includes free electricity supply. He said that Telangana is the only state in the country where Ganesh pandals get free electricity.
Revanth Reddy said that Hyderabad is a symbol of religious harmony, where all religions are respected. He also informed that adequate arrangements have been made for Ganesh Visarjan at Tank Dam.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister wrote, "Visited the nationally famous Khairatabad Maha Ganpati and offered special prayers. Congratulations to the organisers on the successful celebration of 71 years. It is praiseworthy that Khairatabad Ganpati is considered the biggest example of Ganesh Utsav in the entire country."

The 10-day long Ganeshotsav began on August 27 with Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chavithi. The festival celebrates the worship of Lord Ganesha, who is considered the god of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles. The festival culminates on Ananta Chaturdashi and is celebrated with decorations of houses and pandals, prayers, music and colourful processions.
