In this conversation, the two leaders discussed the ongoing war in Ukraine and reviewed the progress in various areas of bilateral cooperation. PM Modi laid special emphasis on the fact that relations between India and France are not limited to the political level, but they are also deep in economic, defense, space technology and cultural fields. French President Emmanuel Macron shared a post on social media platform X after talking to PM Modi. He told that both India and France want immediate and lasting peace in Ukraine. Macron said that based on the strategic partnership of the two countries, they will continue to work together towards peace.

This conversation between PM Modi and Macron came two days after the meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, in which she described India's role as important in ending the Ukraine war and establishing peace.
At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Tianjin, Prime Minister Modi also held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the subject of war and peace. Zelensky had posted on social media that India is ready to give the right message to Russia and other world leaders. Apart from this, important talks were also held between Modi and Zelensky on 11 August.
