A Bengaluru teenager’s night out with friends ended in tragedy after he fell from his apartment building. Police say alcohol consumption at a city pub may have played a role, triggering legal action and a wider probe into underage drinking.
The minor and his friends had visited the pub earlier in the evening
Bengaluru: A tragic incident unfolded in Bengaluru’s Rajarajeshwarinagar area where a 15-year-old boy lost his life after falling from the seventh floor of his apartment building late Saturday night. The teenager was reportedly under the influence of alcohol after attending a party with friends earlier in the evening.
The incident occurred at Mantri Alpyne Apartments on Dr Vishnuvardhan Road, where the minor lived with his family. He was a Class 10 student. Police were alerted after the boy’s parents lodged a complaint at the Rajarajeshwarinagar Police Station on the same night.
During the investigation, police found that the teenager and his friends had visited a pub earlier in the evening. Officials allege that the group consumed alcohol and smoked at the establishment despite being underage.
Based on these findings, the pub: The Legacy Brewing Company, located in Aditya Layout has been booked under provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and the Karnataka Excise Act. Authorities have initiated legal action against the owners and staff of the establishment for allegedly serving alcohol to minors.
Investigators are currently examining the sequence of events leading up to the fatal fall. This includes determining how long the minor and his friends were at the pub, the level of intoxication involved, and whether negligence played a role at any stage.
