Anil Kumar Singhal handed over his charge after offering prayers to Lord Venkateswara at the Tirumala Temple. According to the government order, he has been asked to report to the General Administration Department (GAD).
This action comes as the controversy surrounding the adulteration of ghee used in Tirupati Laddus continues to escalate. It is alleged that the ghee adulteration was suspected during the YSR Congress Party regime, when Anil Kumar Singhal held a top position at the TTD.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the ghee adulteration case has found in its preliminary investigation that Anil Kumar Singhal failed to detect the irregularities in a timely manner. Furthermore, even after the matter became public, he allegedly failed to take strict action against the culprits. The government has taken this strict action based on the SIT report.
M. Ravichandra, Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, has been appointed as the Executive Officer-in-Charge of the TTD. The government has directed him to immediately assume charge and ensure smooth functioning of the temple administration. In addition, Additional Chief Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chaudhary has also been assigned necessary responsibilities.
According to government sources, this transfer is aimed at ensuring administrative accountability and maintaining the prestige of the sacred religious site of Tirupati. Tirupati Laddu is a symbol of faith of devotees not only in the country but across the world, and the government is taking any kind of irregularity in it seriously.
