BCCI issues ultimatum to ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi by mail; Warns of ICC Intervention

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sent an official email to Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi, demanding him to return the Asia Cup 2025 trophy to India. The controversy began when Naqvi refused to accept the trophy after the final match between India and Pakistan and left it at the ACC headquarters.

The BCCI has now issued a new warning to Naqvi, stating that if the trophy is not returned to India immediately, the issue will be raised at the ICC meeting next month.

BCCI’s Strong Reaction

At the ACC meeting held on September 30, the BCCI strongly condemned Naqvi’s behavior. BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla insisted that the Asia Cup 2025 trophy should be immediately handed over to the winning Indian team, captained by Suryakumar Yadav.

He stated that the trophy’s return to India is extremely important because the tournament is part of the ACC and should be treated with due respect in the spirit of the game.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia Criticizes

Earlier, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia also strongly criticized ACC President Mohsin Naqvi’s decision. He stated that Naqvi’s refusal to accept the trophy was a deliberate strategy to deprive India of this prestigious trophy. Saikia clarified that Naqvi has no right to keep the trophy and medals and that this move is against the spirit of the game. He expressed hope that the trophy and medals will be returned to India soon.

Preparations to Raise the Issue at the ICC Meeting

According to sources, the BCCI plans to lodge a strong protest over this controversy at the ICC meeting to be held in Dubai in November. The Indian board considers the ACC President’s behavior inappropriate and will raise the matter with the International Cricket Council, demanding appropriate action. This move reflects the BCCI’s clear policy of ensuring justice and transparency in every aspect of the game.
