New Delhi: The final day of the second Test between India and the West Indies is in progress, and India is on the brink of victory needing just 58 more runs to win. KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan are at the crease, calmly steering the chase. Given the way things are going, it looks like the result could be decided within the next hour.
Under Shubman Gill's captaincy, the Indian cricket team is on the verge of winning its first Test series. India won the toss and elected to bat first. India declared their first innings at 518/5. Yashasvi Jaiswal (175) and Gill (129) scored centuries.
Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets for India in the first innings. The West Indies were all out for 248, forcing India to follow on. In response, the West Indies set India a target of 121 runs to win.

At the end of the fourth day's play, India had scored 63 runs for the loss of one wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal was India's only wicket, dismissed for eight runs. KL Rahul (25) and Sai Sudharshan (30) then steadied the innings and saved another wicket before the end of the day's play. India now needs 58 runs to win on day five.
Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal completed his century (175) on the first day. Sai Sudharshan scored 87 and KL Rahul scored 38. On the second day, Shubman Gill completed his century, but Jaiswal was run out for 175. Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 43 and Dhruv Jurel scored 44. India declared their first innings at 518/5.
West Indies' first innings was reduced to 248, with Alick Athanase (41) scoring the most runs for the visitors. Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets for India, while Ravindra Jadeja took three. Siraj and Bumrah took one wicket each. West Indies failed to avoid the follow-on, and Gill forced the visitors to bat again.

The match looked likely to be a result on the third day, but centuries from John Campbell (115) and Shai Hope (103) in the West Indies' second innings stretched the innings into the fifth day. Roston Chase (40) and Justin Greaves (50) then scored half-centuries. West Indies scored 390 in their second innings, setting India a target of 121 to win.
