Uttar Pradesh: Court fixes charges against Mukhtar Ansari

An MP-MLA court here fixed charges on mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari and three others in a case related to Gangster Act on Thursday, prosecution sources said here. Read more on Dynamite News:

Mau: An MP-MLA court here fixed charges on mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari and three others in a case related to Gangster Act on Thursday, prosecution sources said here.

Prosecution sources said that when Mukhtar was MLA from Mau Sadar seat he issued recommendation letters on his letter pad for issuing licences to nearly half a dozen persons of Dakshin Tola locality.

"On Mukhtar's recommendation licences were issued to these persons, but when verified all the addresses on which arms licences were issued were found to be fake," they said. Prosecution sources said that a case of criminal conspiracy and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was filed against Mukhtar and others. "Besides, the police recommended invoking the Gangster Act against Mukhtar and other accused which was accepted by the court on Thursday," they said.

Prosecution sources said that while fixing charges under the Gangster Act on Mukhtar along with Saleem, Anwar and Sahajanand Judge of the special MP-MLA court Dinesh Chaurasia has fixed September 30 as the next date of hearing.

Earlier, Mukhtar was brought from Banda jail amidst tight security arrangements on the court orders. On the last hearing the court directed Mukhtar, Saleem, Anwar and Sahajanand to personally appear before it.
