When the protesters started entering the restricted area near the Parliament House, the police tried to suppress the protest with tear gas and water cannons. During this, 18 people died and more than 50 were injured, who have been admitted to nearby hospitals.
The Nepal government decided to ban 26 social media platforms after a meeting on August 31. The government banned all those platforms which were operating without registration.
Nepal’s government imposed a curfew in Kathmandu after youth protested against the social media ban. The decision sparked debate over freedom of expression and government control over digital platforms.
