West Bengal has written to the Railway Ministry requesting it not to send special trains to the state till May 26.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Tuesday wrote to Chief Secretaries of all states to take steps to ‘mitigate the distress of migrant workers’, suggesting a number of measures to be implemented including operation of more special trains by proactive coordination between states and the Ministry of Railways.
The Indian Railways on Tuesday said that hundred summer special trains would be run to handle extra rush of passengers during this season.
