SCR to operate 150 special trains for Makar Sankranti
New Delhi: Every year, Makar Sankranti witnesses a massive surge in passenger travel as people head home and pilgrims flock to major religious destinations.
To manage the festive rush and ensure smooth travel, South Central Railway (SCR) has announced the operation of 150 special trains across major routes during the Sankranti season.
This initiative is aimed at easing congestion, reducing waiting lists, and offering passengers more convenient travel options during one of the busiest periods of the year.
Special Trains to Ease Festive Travel Pressure
The additional services will cater mainly to passengers traveling across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and nearby regions. These special trains will halt at major stations including:
Bolarum, Medchal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada, Guntur, and Renigunta.
The trains will be equipped with Sleeper Class and General Second-Class coaches, ensuring affordability and accessibility for a large number of passengers.
