SP Calls UP Job Announcements Election Stunt
Lucknow: Preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections have intensified. In the last 15 days, the Yogi government has announced a large number of government jobs for youth and women. These include positions in the police, PCS, Home Guard, Jail Warden, UPSSSC, and other departments. This move is being seen as a strategic step to secure the votes of young people and women.
The major recruitments announced by the government include:
Sub-Inspector (SI): 4,543 posts
Home Guard: 41,424 posts
Constable: 22,605 posts
Jail Warden: 3,000 posts
UPPSC PCS: 920 posts
Review Officer (RO): 411 posts
UPSSSC (VDO, Lekhpal, Forest Guard, etc.): 50,000+ posts (expected soon)
These recruitments will open up opportunities for approximately 70,000 jobs. According to reports, the exam results and joining dates are expected by the end of 2026.
BJP leader Rakesh Tripathi says that recruitment in the state is now being done on the basis of merit and there is no question of nepotism. This initiative of the government is being considered a step towards creating employment opportunities for the youth.
The SP has also intensified its strategy. Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav shared pictures of women MPs on social media, stating, “In PDA, 'A' stands for 'Aadhi Aabadi' (half the population), and respecting every woman is our commitment.” The SP has announced schemes like the ‘Stree Samman-Samriddhi Yojana’ (Women's Respect and Prosperity Scheme) and is putting all its efforts into wooing women voters.
SP leader Deepak Ranjan said that while it's good that young people are getting jobs, the public is demanding an account of how many recruitments have actually been completed in the last nine years. He added that young people will only get their rights when a Samajwadi government comes to power.
Congress leader Surendra Rajput said that the BJP only announces jobs when elections are around the corner. He said that promises of 20 million jobs in 2014 and 5 million in 2022 were made, but apart from police recruitment, no other recruitments have taken place. He added that the public will give its answer in 2027.
According to analysts, the old "MY (Muslim-Yadav)" equation in the 2027 elections has transformed into "M-Y (Women and Youth)."ant role.
Young people welcomed the recruitments but said that many other jobs have also been pending for a long time. The biggest challenge for the government will be to effectively implement the recruitments that have now been announced.
