Police arrested two smugglers
Mirzapur: Police has taken major action with the aim of curbing drug trafficking under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Somen Burma. Police have arrested two interstate smugglers and recovered ganja worth Rs 1.5 crore from a container truck in Lalganj police station area. New way of drug smuggling, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The police received information on Thursday from an informer that a large quantity of ganja was being transported hidden in a container truck. Acting on this information, the police team stopped the container truck (vehicle number NL 01 Q 7128) near village Rajapur turn and searched it.
A total of 4 quintals 24.700 kg of illegal ganja was recovered from a secret cabin made of plywood behind the driver's seat of the truck, whose estimated market value is said to be ₹ 1.5 crore.
The arrested accused have been identified as - Chandramani Nayak son Balmiki Nayak (age 34 years), resident of Kudutai, Thana Tarasingh, District Ganjam, Odisha and 2. Jogendra Nayak son Seemanchal Nayak (age 31 years), resident of Kudutai Ghatipali, Thana Tarasingh, District Ganjam, Odisha. During interrogation, both the accused told that they were taking this ganja from Odisha to Prayagraj. For smuggling, a special cabin was made inside the truck and ganja was hidden in it.
In this case, case number 237/2025, section 8/20/60 NDPS Act has been registered at Lalganj police station and the accused are being presented in the court and sent to jail. Also, the container truck used in smuggling ganja has been seized under section 207 MV Act.
In this action, the police team including SHO Lalganj Sanjay Singh, Sub-Inspector Ajay Kumar Mishra, Sub-Inspector Shivkaran Singh, Inspector Rajiv Kumar Singh (In-charge SOG), Sub-Inspector Manvendra Singh (In-charge Surveillance) played a role.
The Superintendent of Police congratulated the team for this success and said that strict steps will be taken against such crimes in future as well. He said that the police have arrested two interstate smugglers and recovered ganja worth Rs 1.5 crore from a container truck in Lalganj police station area.
