Etah: The Hand Foot Mouth Syndrome (HFMS) virus spreading rapidly among children in many districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Delhi, has become a matter of concern.
So far more than 50 children have come to the medical college for treatment after being affected by this virus.
Doctors say that this infection troubles children for about 15 days. Children have to suffer a lot due to blisters in hands, feet and mouth.
The virus is mainly affecting small children up to 10 years of age. Initially, children feel mild fever, sore throat and weakness. After this, small red rashes and blisters emerge on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet and inside the mouth. Due to these blisters, it becomes difficult for children to even eat and drink. Extreme itching and pain have also been seen in many children.
Medical college skin disease specialists say that this disease usually gets cured in 10 to 15 days, but during this time children need adequate rest, nutritious food and clean environment. They warned that parents should not let children come in contact with other children or adults during this time, so that the infection does not spread further.
Keep the infected child separate and use his clothes, utensils, towels etc. separately.
If any child shows initial symptoms of fever or blisters, immediately consult the nearest hospital or doctor.
