UP: Youth dies without treatment in Chandauli; Family demands justice

Chandauli: There was a huge uproar on Monday at Kashiram Awas located in Bhogware under Mughalsarai police station of the district when injured youth Bhagat died due to lack of treatment. When the family members of the deceased were going towards the police station with the body, the police tried to take possession of the body midway, due to which the situation became tense.

There was a heated argument between the family members and the police and soon the crowd started creating a ruckus. Seeing the situation going out of control, the police had to disperse the crowd by lathi charge.

Deceased Idemtification

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Bhagat, who used to support his family by doing labor. According to the information, about 10 days ago, Bhagat was attacked by three people when he was returning home after working as a laborer, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The attackers not only beat him brutally, but also fled after looting Rs 1500 from his pocket. Seriously injured Bhagat was admitted to the trauma centre in Varanasi by his family, but due to lack of money, he had to be brought back home after just two days.

Family clashed With Police

Without treatment, Bhagat's condition kept deteriorating and he died on Monday. As soon as this news spread, the family and local people became angry. The family, accusing the police of serious negligence, marched towards Mughalsarai police station with the body. They alleged that if the police had taken timely action and financial help was provided, Bhagat's life could have been saved.

Seeing the situation worsening, SDM of PDU Nagar, CO Krishna Murari Sharma and police force of many police stations reached the spot. The officials tried to convince the people, but the family of the deceased remained adamant on the demand for justice and compensation. After a lot of effort, the police took the body in custody and sent it for post-mortem.

One Accused Arrested

On the basis of the complaint filed by the deceased's brother, the police have arrested one accused, while another absconding accused is being searched for. Investigation into the case is ongoing. CO PDU Nagar Krishna Murari Sharma said that strict action will be taken against the culprits and the victim's family has been assured of all possible help.
