Bihar Police Releases Sketches of the Three JeM Operatives
New Delhi: A major challenge has arisen for the security system of the state before the assembly elections in Bihar. According to intelligence sources, three terrorists of the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed have succeeded in infiltrating Bihar through Nepal.
As soon as this information was received, Bihar Police issued a high alert across the state and started searching for these terrorists by releasing their photos and personal details.
Identification and route of terrorists
These three infiltrating terrorists have been identified as Hasnain Ali (Rawalpindi), Adil Hussain (Umarkot), and Mohammad Usman (Bahawalpur). All of them reached Kathmandu in the second week of August and then entered India through the Nepal-Bihar border in the third week. Bahawalpur is considered to be the stronghold of Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Why the Nepal route?
India and Nepal have an open border of about 1700 km, due to which citizens of both countries can travel without a visa. Seven districts of Bihar—Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, and West Champaran—are directly adjacent to Nepal. Terrorist organizations take advantage of this open border and easily infiltrate with the help of fake identity cards and local smugglers.
Security challenges and preparations
Surveillance is quite challenging due to dense forests, rivers, and rural areas in this area. Although the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and local police are deployed, complete sealing is not possible due to lack of resources and the vast area.
The arrest of 41 foreign nationals from this border in the last six months is proof of how active this route is for infiltration.

Possible intentions of terrorists
It is believed that these terrorists are planning a major terrorist attack. Since there is an election atmosphere in Bihar at this time and Rahul Gandhi's 'Voter Rights Yatra' is also going on, it may be easier to attack in crowded areas.
Moreover, terrorists will also try to execute a sinister plan in Union Home Minister Amit Shah's recent program at Punaura Dham in Sitamarh.
Action by security agencies
In view of these threats, Bihar Police has increased vigilance in all districts, especially border districts. Checking operations have been intensified at railway stations, bus stands, and other crowded areas.
The search for terrorists is going on with the help of drones and advanced technology. The local administration is urging people to be alert and report any suspicious activity immediately.
