New Delhi: A Special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the national capital has extended the custody of seven foreign nationals, including one US citizen and six Ukrainian nationals, by 10 days in connection with a terror conspiracy case.

The accused include Matthew Aaron Van Dyke, along with Ukrainian nationals Hurba Petro, Slyviak Taras, Ivan Sukmanovskyi, Stefankiv Marian, Honcharuk Maksim, and Kaminskyi Viktor. They were produced before the Special NIA Court at the agency’s headquarters in New Delhi.

Special NIA Judge Prashant Sharma granted the extension after the probe agency sought further custody to continue its investigation. Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC) represented some of the accused during the hearing.

According to officials, the accused have been arrested for allegedly supporting ethnic armed groups in Myanmar by supplying weapons, terrorist hardware, and providing training. The case has been registered under Section 18 (terror conspiracy) and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The NIA had requested an additional 10 days of custody, which the court approved, allowing investigators to further probe the alleged international network involved in the case.
