Sakti: At least four workers were killed and 15 others injured after a boiler explosion at a power plant in Chhattisgarh’s Sakti district on Tuesday, according to police officials. The incident occurred at a private facility operated by Vedanta Limited in Singhitarai village.

The blast triggered panic in the area and prompted an immediate emergency response from local authorities.

Boiler Tube Blast Suspected

Preliminary reports indicate that the explosion originated in a boiler tube during the afternoon. However, officials said the exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined and remains under investigation.

Sakti Superintendent of Police Prafull Thakur confirmed that four workers lost their lives in the explosion. Fifteen others sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Medical officials said some of the injured are in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll could rise.

Rescue Operations Continue

Rescue teams, including police and district administration personnel, reached the site soon after the explosion and began search operations. Officials said several workers are feared to be trapped inside the damaged structure.

Separate Explosion in Madhya Pradesh

In a separate incident on the same day, three explosions were reported at a waste management plant in the Pithampur industrial area of Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district. The facility, operated by Ramky Enviro Engineers Limited, had previously handled hazardous waste.

The blasts were heard up to a kilometre away, causing panic in nearby villages, with residents reporting tremors.
