New Delhi: The Supreme Court collegium on Tuesday recommended the names of two women advocates for appointment as judges of the Kerala High Court.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The advocates recommended are Preeta Aravindan Krishnamma and Liz Mathew Anthraper.

In a separate decision, the collegium approved the elevation of three judicial officers as judges of the Karnataka High Court.

The officers include Rajeshwari Narayana Hegde, Kedambadi Ganesh Shanthi, and Mahadevappa Brungesh. The recommendations are part of ongoing efforts to fill vacancies in various high courts.
The collegium also cleared the proposal to make four additional judges permanent in the Telangana High Court.
Those approved for permanent judgeship are Justices Yara Renuka, Nandikonda Narsing Rao, E Tirumala Devi, and B.R. Madhusudhan Rao.
Additionally, the collegium approved the appointment of Justice Manjusha Ajay Deshpande as a permanent judge of the Bombay High Court. She was serving as an additional judge prior to this recommendation.
The latest set of recommendations reflects the collegium’s ongoing process to address vacancies and strengthen judicial capacity across high courts.
The proposals will now be forwarded to the government for further action as per the established appointment procedure. The collegium’s recommendations will now be sent to the Central government for approval. The appointments will come into effect after the issuance of official notifications by the government, in accordance with the established procedure.
