New Delhi: Days after a 26-year-old man died following a clash between two communities, tensions have escalated in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, with locals alleging threats by some groups to play ‘Khoon ki Holi’ ahead of Eid.
The incident, which began during Holi, has since led to heightened concerns among residents. The tensions stem from the death of a man in a fight between two families from different communities on the festival of Holi earlier this month.
Police said the altercation took place on March 4 after a minor dispute involving a water balloon escalated into a fight between two families from different communities. The injured man later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have so far arrested 14 people and apprehended two minors in connection with the case.

As Eid draws closer, some residents particularly from the Muslim community have expressed concern over safety. A few families are reportedly considering temporarily leaving the locality until normalcy returns.
Locals have also flagged alleged threats and inflammatory statements circulating both offline and on social media, contributing to anxiety in the area. However, police officials said that during interactions, most residents have not confirmed plans to leave.
The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear a petition seeking enhanced security measures in Uttam Nagar. The plea highlights fears of possible unrest in view of the upcoming festival and calls for increased patrolling.
Security has been significantly stepped up, especially in areas like Hastsal village. Barricades have been installed across lanes, and police personnel have been deployed to monitor the situation and prevent any escalation. Officials said regular meetings are being held with residents to maintain peace and address concerns.
