Blast at former MLA Vijay Singh’s residence leaves two injured
Farrukhabad: A powerful explosion was reported at the residence of former MLA Vijay Singh in Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning, leaving two people seriously injured and causing extensive damage to the property.
The incident occurred around 7:30 am in the Nala Machharatta area. According to initial reports, the explosion was strong enough to shatter windows of the four-storey building and damage the basement structure. Residents in the surrounding area rushed out of their homes after hearing the loud blast, leading to panic in the locality.

Among those injured were Avinash Singh, also known as Vicky, the son of the former MLA, and an employee identified as Bhaiya Lal Chauhan. Both sustained serious injuries and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Medical officials indicated that Avinash Singh remains in critical condition and is under close observation, while the condition of the other injured person is also serious but relatively stable.
Police and emergency response teams reached the spot soon after the incident and secured the area. Officials have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the cause of the explosion. Preliminary inquiries are focusing on whether the blast was accidental or the result of any deliberate act.
Authorities have also begun checking movement in and around the area to rule out any possible external involvement.

The incident has drawn additional attention due to the background of former MLA Vijay Singh, who is currently serving a life sentence in connection with the killing of BJP leader Brahmdutt Dwivedi. Officials have not established any direct link between the past case and the explosion.
Police officials said that forensic teams may be deployed to examine the site and collect evidence. A detailed report is expected after preliminary findings are analysed.
