Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has suspended former MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy from party activities after his arrest in connection with an alleged drug consumption case.
Show-Cause Notice Issued
The party issued a show-cause notice to Reddy, asking him to submit a detailed explanation within seven days. He has also been directed to stay away from all party programmes until further notice.

Reddy is currently in judicial custody after being detained during a police raid at a farmhouse in Moinabad, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Allegations Under Probe
According to officials, the case relates to alleged consumption of narcotic substances at a private gathering. Those present at the venue were subjected to medical tests, and some are reported to have tested positive. Authorities have not yet released full details of the findings.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the source of the substances and the extent of involvement of those present.
Party Signals Further Action
The BRS indicated that stricter disciplinary action, including possible expulsion, could follow if Reddy fails to provide a satisfactory explanation within the stipulated time.

The controversy has also impacted the Telugu Desam Party, which issued a similar notice to its Lok Sabha MP Putta Mahesh Kumar, who was reportedly present at the gathering.
