New Delhi: A 19-year-old man accused of raping and killing a 22-year-old woman in South Delhi has told investigators that the incident was not intentional. During questioning, he repeatedly stated that the situation escalated unexpectedly when his demand for money was resisted.
The accused, a former domestic worker at the victim’s residence, allegedly entered the house with the intention of theft. He said: "Main maarna nahi chahta tha par ho gaya (I didn't want to kill her, but it just happened."

As per the sources, investigators also tried to question the accused on moral grounds. "Wo log to mere liye bhagwan the. Bahut ache the dono. Lekin mujhe paisa chahiye tha (They were like gods to me. Both were very good. But I wanted money)," the teen said.
According to investigators, the accused had prior knowledge of the house layout and used a spare key to gain entry. He reportedly went to the rooftop study, where the victim was present.
Police said an argument broke out after he demanded money. The situation turned violent, and the victim was attacked and later strangled. Authorities allege that sexual assault took place during or after the assault.
Following the crime, the accused allegedly attempted to access valuables and fled the scene with cash and jewellery.
Investigators are also examining the accused’s movements before the incident. Police sources indicate he may have been involved in another sexual assault in Rajasthan hours before arriving in Delhi.
The post-mortem examination confirmed that the victim died due to strangulation. The report noted multiple injuries across the body, including facial trauma and fractures. Medical findings indicated asphyxia caused by pressure on the neck, along with other signs consistent with physical assault.

Delhi Police is likely to conduct a psychological evaluation of the accused to better understand his mental state and behavioural patterns. Officials cited his calm demeanour and lack of visible remorse during interrogation as reasons for the assessment.
The analysis is expected to examine aggression levels and potential personality traits that may have influenced the crime.
The accused has been remanded to police custody for further questioning. Investigators are continuing to gather forensic evidence and reconstruct the sequence of events.
