A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut allegedly killed his father by hitting him with a brick after a drunken argument turned violent. The accused has been arrested and police have launched further investigation.

Meerut: A man was arrested in Meerut after he allegedly killed his father by striking him with a brick following an argument while the two were drinking together, police said. The incident took place in the Jail Chungi area of the city on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Rajesh (55), was drinking alcohol with his son Aman when an argument broke out between them.

What initially began as a verbal dispute soon escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, Aman allegedly picked up a brick and struck his father on the head.
Police officials said the blow left Rajesh critically injured.
After receiving information about the incident, a police team rushed to the spot and shifted Rajesh to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival, officials said. The incident has shocked residents in the locality, as the fatal attack reportedly occurred during a domestic dispute.

Confirming the development, Ayush Vikram Singh said the accused has been taken into custody. The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police have registered a case and further legal proceedings are currently underway. Authorities are also investigating the circumstances that led to the violent altercation between the father and son.
