New Delhi: Following the release of the results of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2025, a unique controversy has emerged. Two different women have claimed the 301st rank in the merit list. Surprisingly, both women are named Akanksha Singh, creating confusion. Discussion about this controversy has intensified on social media and in media reports.

Akanksha Singh of Ara, Bihar, first claimed that she had passed the UPSC Civil Services Examination in her second attempt, securing the 301st rank. Speaking to the media, she said she was confident of success this time.

According to Akanksha, she studied for approximately 8 to 10 hours daily and had been preparing for the exam for a long time. She also stated that this achievement was her grandfather's dream, who had complete faith in her.

According to media reports, Akanksha Singh of Ara is said to be the granddaughter of Brahmeshwar Singh, the founder of the banned organization Ranvir Sena, who was murdered in 2012.

Akanksha Singh of Ghazipur raises questions

A day after the results were announced, another Akanksha Singh, a resident of Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, posted on social media claiming that the 301st rank was actually hers.

She wrote on Facebook that her identity and rank were being misused. She shared documents to support her claim, allegedly including an identity card and an e-summon.

In a video message, she stated that she is a gynecologist by profession and currently works at AIIMS Patna. She said that she was busy due to a recent tragic family incident and that's when she learned of the controversy.

QR code could reveal the secret

Akanksha from Ghazipur says that scanning the QR code on the admit cards of both candidates could reveal the truth. She claims that she took the preliminary exam, main exam, and interview under the same roll number.

According to some media reports, the information revealed by private channels when the QR code of the admit card was scanned matches the details of the Ghazipur candidate.

Demand for UPSC Investigation

On the other hand, Akanksha Singh from Ara also stands by her claim. She says she also took the exam under the same roll number as hers. She has sent an email to the Commission seeking clarification and has expressed her intention to travel to Delhi to meet with the UPSC to uncover the truth.

All eyes now on the UPSC's decision

This entire controversy has raised questions about the results of a prestigious exam like the UPSC. Currently, both candidates are adamant on their claims, and all eyes are on the UPSC's investigation and final decision, which will reveal the truth.
