Nashik: In a significant development in the Nashik TCS case, a court declined to grant interim protection to accused Nida Khan while hearing her anticipatory bail plea. The matter has now been posted for further proceedings on April 27 after the complainant was granted time to file a written response.

No Interim Relief Granted During the hearing, Khan’s legal team requested temporary relief, arguing that anticipatory bail proceedings typically require time and interim protection was necessary.

However, the court decided against granting any interim order at this stage. The complainant’s counsel sought additional time to submit a written reply to the bail plea. The court accepted the request and allowed time until April 27 for the response.

Arguments Inside the Courtroom

Khan’s counsel cited medical grounds during the proceedings, stating that she is pregnant and sought interim protection on humanitarian grounds.

Advocate Rahul Kasliwal, representing Khan, argued that the prosecution had failed to provide concrete evidence to justify charges, particularly under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) Act. The prosecution opposed the bail request and presented photographs allegedly related to a BPO picnic and trip as part of their submissions.

SC-ST Act Charges Under Scrutiny

A key point of contention during the hearing was the invocation of provisions under the SC-ST Act. The defence argued that the charges lacked sufficient supporting material, while the prosecution maintained that the allegations were serious and warranted further investigation.

Police Claim Key Role Officials from Nashik Police earlier stated that Khan allegedly played a significant role in the case, particularly in connection with alleged conversion activities. According to police, additional victims may be involved, but some have not come forward due to fear and societal pressure.

Police also indicated that the seriousness of the charges, especially those under the SC-ST Act, could impact the court’s decision on anticipatory bail. The court is expected to take up the matter again on April 27 after reviewing the complainant’s written response and hearing further arguments.
