Saket Court Grants 4-Day Custody of Rahul Meena (Image Source: Internet)
New Delhi: Delhi's Saket court has sent accused Rahul Meena to police custody for 4 days in the case of rape and murder of an IRS officer's daughter. Delhi Police had sought custody from the court for interrogation and in-depth investigation of the case, which was approved.
According to the investigation, the accused entered the flat in Kailash Hills, South Delhi, using a spare key. He went straight to the study room on the terrace, where he attacked the 22-year-old girl. The victim was the daughter of a senior IRS officer and was preparing for the civil services examination.
According to police sources, the accused first strangled the girl with the wire of a mobile charger and then attacked her with a heavy object and made her unconscious. After this she was raped.
The accused later dragged her down in a bloodied condition and tried to open the locker. When the biometric lock did not open, he broke it and stole cash and jewellery.
According to CCTV footage, the accused entered the colony at around 6:30 am, entered the house at 6:49 am and left at 7:20 am. That means he was present inside the house for about 40 minutes.
Police said that during interrogation the accused did not show any remorse and kept changing his statements again and again. He also said that he had come to collect the money and “everything just happened.”
Investigation has also revealed that the accused may have committed the crime earlier also. He is also being linked to another rape case in Alwar, Rajasthan, which is being investigated separately.
The police is now interrogating the accused and trying to connect the links of the entire incident. Also, his activities are being investigated in both Delhi and Rajasthan.
