UP: 3-year-old girl killed, 35 injured after balcony fell in Amethi

Amethi: A three-year-old girl was dead and more than 35 people were injured on Tuesday night when the dilapidated balcony of a house collapsed in Amethi.

The incident took place while watching the wedding procession, reports Dynamite News.

Most of the injured are women and teenagers. They have been admitted to the hospital.

What is the whole matter

The incident is from Sitarampur Majra Bahapur of Munshiganj area. It was the wedding of Pooja Srivastava, a resident of the village.

The baraat had come from Milkipur, Kumarganj of Ayodhya district.

At around 11:30 pm, preparations were going on for the Dwarpuja. Meanwhile, women and children from the nearby area were standing on the roof terrace to see the baraat. Due to the large crowd, the dilapidated balcony broke along with the railing.

Daughter died on the spot

In the accident, Anil Srivastava's five-year-old daughter Anushka, a resident of Chandaur village of Sultanpur, died on the spot. While Priya (16), Madhu (17), Khushboo (19), Anju (19), Lakshmi (19), Sushila (60) and Babul and his wife, residents of Sitarampur village, along with Prahlad Prasad Srivastava (58) of Bhoye Jamo, Usha (40), a resident of Kherwa, Raebareli, Rita (36), a resident of Gajanpur Duvariya, Musafirkhana, Mansi (17), a resident of Pure Indrira, Asandra, Barabanki, Jaggu (65) and Sukhraji (60), residents of Nevada Musafirkhana, Manisa (19) and Nisha (22) and Kallu (25), residents of Kadipur, Musafirkhana, along with Kusum (45), a resident of Jagdishpur Nasirabad, were injured.

Not ready to get postmortem done

The injured were admitted to the district hospital Gauriganj. Apart from this, other people have suffered minor injuries. They were sent home after first aid. After the accident, instead of wedding songs and shehnai, there were screams and cries.

Inspector Gauriganj Shyam Narayan Pandey said that the police reached the spot after being informed by the hospital. The family was not ready to get Anushka's postmortem done. After this, they left for home with the dead body.

Inspector Munshiganj Shivakant Tripathi said that the matter is under cognizance. The family has not given any written complaint. Peace and order is maintained in the village.

After Anushka's death, mother Kiran is in bad shape due to crying. Brother Arun and sister Anshika started sobbing seeing their mother cry. Father Anil Shrivastava is inconsolable. Family members and relatives tried to console the family.
