Sameer Wankhede Hits Back at Baads of Bollywood
New Delhi: Former Mumbai Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sameer Wankhede, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment (a company owned by actor Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan).
The lawsuit stems from alleged false and negative portrayals of his image in the web series "Ba***ds of Bollywood." Wankhede stated that the case is not related to his profession, but rather concerns his personal dignity, honor, and self-respect.
Wankhede clarified that he filed the lawsuit in his personal capacity in the Delhi High Court and did not wish to comment on the matter until the court hearing concluded.
He emphasized that anyone should not create satire or parody about their own profession or people. He stated that the drug problem is a serious issue for the entire country today, and such negative portrayals insult not only him but all those fighting against drugs.
Sameer stated that his family is not involved in his profession or affairs, but they are facing hate messages and threats due to this controversy. He stated that his family is receiving hate messages from Pakistan, the UAE, and Bangladesh.
He has repeatedly informed the police of these threats. Therefore, he is pursuing this case seriously to protect his family's dignity and safety.
Sameer Wankhede stated that he has full faith in the Indian judicial system and the Constitution. He is a loyal soldier of the government and maintains that decisions are made in accordance with the rules and regulations.

He does not consider this case a means of publicity but is fighting it to protect his personal dignity. He stated that he cannot remain silent about the hate messages he has received.
On October 8, the Delhi High Court issued summons to Red Chillies Entertainment and other parties. The court has asked them to respond within seven days, and after that, Sameer Wankhede will have three days to respond.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for October 30. The court has currently refused to grant any immediate relief and has asked them to return after ten days.
Wankhede claims that the web series portrays him and institutions like the NCB in a negative light, leading to a loss of public trust in law and order.
He says the show was deliberately designed to present a false and negative image against him, especially while his and Aryan Khan's case is still pending in court. He believes this portrayal is damaging his reputation and is also unfair to the judicial process.
