New Delhi: Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, has underlined New Delhi’s growing influence in West Asia, saying India has a “huge role to play” in ensuring regional stability and economic growth amid continuing geopolitical tensions.
Speaking on India’s expanding presence in the region, Azar said India’s rapid economic growth and strong trade relationships with major global blocs could significantly benefit West Asia if peace and stability are maintained.

According to Azar, India’s emergence as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies positions it as an important driver of investment and trade across the region. He noted that increasing trade connectivity and economic cooperation could lead to major opportunities for West Asian countries in the coming years.

Azar also stressed the importance of maintaining regional stability and addressing extremist threats to fully realise the economic potential linked to India’s rise. He said stability would allow countries in the region to benefit from growing investment flows and commercial partnerships connected to India.
The remarks come amid deepening ties between India and Israel across sectors such as defence, technology, agriculture and trade. In recent years, both countries have consistently highlighted their strategic partnership and growing diplomatic cooperation.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently praised India’s support for Israel, stating that the country enjoys strong goodwill among the Indian public despite criticism faced elsewhere globally.
Speaking during a public address last week, Netanyahu described India as a major global power and referred to the relationship between the two nations as unique.
The latest comments also follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Israel, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in multiple sectors. During the visit, Modi was awarded the “Speaker of the Knesset Medal,” considered Israel’s highest parliamentary honour.

Netanyahu, while addressing a joint press conference during the visit, also shared personal anecdotes linked to India and praised the warmth shown by Indian citizens towards Israel.
India and Israel have significantly expanded engagement over the past decade, with both governments emphasising innovation, security cooperation, connectivity and economic partnership.
Israel’s latest remarks indicate that New Delhi is increasingly being viewed not only as a close bilateral partner but also as a potentially influential force in promoting stability and prosperity across the broader West Asian region.
