New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has finalised cadre allocation for Indian Police Service (IPS) officers selected through the Civil Services Examination 2024, bringing an end to the wait for newly inducted officers.
According to the official order issued on Monday, cadres have been allotted to a total of 144 IPS officers across the country. Of these, 12 officers have been assigned the Uttar Pradesh cadre. The cadre allocation has been carried out as per the category-based allocation policy followed by the Centre.

The Uttar Pradesh cadre had 12 vacancies for IPS officers, all of which have now been filled through the latest allocation list issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Sources said only two officers belonging to Uttar Pradesh or having the state as their home cadre have been allotted the UP cadre, while several other candidates from the state have been assigned cadres in different parts of the country.

The cadre allocation marks the completion of one of the final administrative steps for candidates selected to the IPS through the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024.
The newly allotted officers are expected to undergo further training and formal joining procedures in their respective cadres in the coming months.
