New Delhi: In a major escalation of tensions in West Asia, Iran launched a large-scale missile and drone offensive against multiple United States military bases across the region. The strikes came hours after joint military operations were carried out by United States and Israel targeting locations inside Iran, including areas near Tehran.

Iran’s armed forces, led by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), announced the launch of “Operation Truthful Promise 4,” describing it as a direct response to what it called aggression against its sovereignty. Iranian media also reported casualties following U.S.-Israeli airstrikes, including an alleged attack on a girls’ school in southern Iran.

Trump and Netanyahu Defend Military Action

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the objective of the strikes was to eliminate what he described as “imminent threats” from the Iranian regime. He accused Iran of advancing its nuclear program and developing long-range missile capabilities.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the joint action aimed to remove what he termed an “existential threat” to Israel’s security.

List of US Military Bases Reportedly Attacked by Iran

According to regional reports, Iranian missiles and drones targeted seven U.S. military installations across six countries:

  • Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar – The largest U.S. military base in the region and a key hub for U.S. Central Command operations. Qatari defense systems reportedly intercepted incoming missiles.

  • Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi) – Hosts approximately 5,000 U.S. personnel. Loud explosions and smoke were reported near the base.

  • Ali Al-Salem Air Base, Kuwait – Known as “The Rock,” this base supports U.S. Air Force operations near the Iraqi border.

  • NSA Bahrain (Naval Support Activity Bahrain) – A major U.S. naval facility in Manama that reportedly sustained missile impact.

  • Muwaffaq Al-Salti Air Base, Jordan – Jordanian air defenses reportedly intercepted two missiles targeting the base.

  • Ain Al-Asad Air Base, Iraq – Explosions and smoke were reported near this western Iraq installation.

  • Erbil Air Base, Iraq – Placed on high alert following multiple reported missile strikes.

Civilian Impact and Embassy Advisories

As the conflict intensified, residents in Israel and Iran moved to safer locations. Several Gulf nations activated air defense systems. In Abu Dhabi, one person was reportedly killed following missile fire.

The Indian embassies in Iran, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan issued advisories urging citizens to remain indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and register with local diplomatic missions. Emergency contact numbers were shared for Indian nationals in affected regions.

US Presence in Southeast Asia

While the United States maintains extensive military infrastructure in West Asia, it does not operate permanent bases in Southeast Asia. However, it runs temporary logistical facilities in countries such as the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and the British Indian Ocean Territory under bilateral agreements.

The situation remains fluid, with fears of further escalation across the Middle East.
