New Delhi: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed that Israel will continue targeting Hezbollah positions, following a wave of strikes across Lebanon. The latest attacks reportedly killed a close aide and relative of Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem, marking a significant escalation in hostilities.

Speaking from Tel Aviv, Netanyahu said Israeli forces are acting with “force, precision, and determination” to counter threats. He stressed that the operations are aimed at safeguarding Israeli civilians and dismantling Hezbollah’s operational capacity.

“No Safe Zone” for Hezbollah Targets

Netanyahu made it clear that Israel’s military actions would not be geographically limited. “We will continue to hit Hezbollah wherever necessary,” he said, signaling the possibility of wider strikes beyond traditional conflict zones.

He added that the ultimate objective remains restoring security in northern Israel, where residents have been displaced due to ongoing tensions. According to the Israeli leadership, operations will persist until civilians can safely return to their homes.

Ceasefire Agreement Under Pressure

The renewed offensive has put the already fragile ceasefire under strain. Iran has accused the US-Israel bloc of violating key terms of the temporary agreement, raising concerns over its sustainability.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf alleged that Israel breached three major provisions of the proposed framework: continued military activity in Lebanon, violations of Iranian airspace, and restrictions on Iran’s uranium enrichment rights.

He criticised Washington for what he described as a pattern of broken commitments, adding that such actions deepen long-standing distrust between the two sides.

Iran Threatens to Exit Islamabad Talks

Amid rising tensions, Tehran has warned it may withdraw from upcoming negotiations scheduled in Islamabad. The talks were seen as a key opportunity to stabilise the region and build on the temporary ceasefire framework.

However, Netanyahu has rejected claims that Hezbollah was covered under the ceasefire arrangement. He maintained that Israel never agreed to halt operations against the group, asserting that recent strikes have dealt one of the most significant blows to Hezbollah in recent years.
