At least 10 Pakistani security personnel and 37 rebels were killed in a coordinated assault by the Baloch Liberation Army across multiple districts in Balochistan, prompting heightened security measures and deployment of emergency teams.
Coordinated Attacks Across Multiple Districts
New Delhi: In a major security incident in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) carried out a coordinated series of attacks targeting security forces and administrative officials.
According to reports, the attacks occurred across five districts including Quetta, Pasni, Mastung, Nushki, and Gwadar. Both gunfire and suicide bombings were employed by the insurgents in an attempt to inflict significant damage.

The attacks were described as “coordinated”, with insurgents striking over 12 different locations simultaneously. Officials highlighted that the operations were part of a new phase of BLA’s ongoing insurgency, which the group has named “Operation Herof”. This phase reportedly aims to target military installations, police, and government officials to assert their separatist agenda.
The confrontation resulted in the deaths of at least 10 security personnel, including four policemen in Quetta alone, and 37 insurgents. Several security officers were also injured, though no civilian casualties have been reported so far.
A senior security official described the attacks as “coordinated but poorly executed”, emphasizing that rapid and effective responses by security forces prevented greater destruction. The official noted that insurgents were unable to achieve their objectives due to swift action and weak planning on the part of the attackers.
Balochistan has long been the center of a separatist insurgency, driven by groups such as the BLA, which claim to protect the province’s resources and fight against the federal government. The province is strategically important and rich in minerals, making it a frequent target for insurgent attacks.
The BLA’s latest offensive, marking the second phase of “Operation Herof,” underscores the group’s continued commitment to its separatist agenda. By striking military and administrative targets, the insurgents aim to destabilize the region and assert control, although repeated security interventions have limited their effectiveness.

Following the attacks, Pakistan has ramped up security across affected areas. Emergency response teams have been deployed to multiple cities, and security forces remain vigilant to prevent further incidents.
The situation, while currently under control, is still tense, and authorities continue to monitor for any follow-up attacks. This incident highlights both the persistent threat of insurgency in Balochistan and the ability of Pakistani security forces to respond quickly, mitigating potential damage and loss of life.
