Pakistan: Baloch Liberation Army kills 29 soldiers in Kalat and Quetta

Islamabad: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has once again targeted the Pakistani army. The BLA has claimed to have killed 29 military personnel in two separate attacks in Kalat and Quetta. The Baloch Army is demanding independence of Balochistan from Pakistan.

Fatah Squad, the Baloch Army special unit, targeted a bus carrying Pakistani military personnel in Quetta and carried out an IED attack.

BLA Special Unit Fateh Squad

According to information, BLA's special unit Fateh Squad attacked a bus carrying Pakistani soldiers at Nimrag Cross in Kalat. The attack was done based on information received from BLA's intelligence branch Ziraab.

Ziraab is an Arabic word that can mean several things, including "contending," "fighting," "fencing," or "conquering".

As many as 29 soldiers were killed on the spot, while many were injured. The Baloch Army has said that the Pakistani Army will pay the price for this till the independence of Balochistan.

The Baloch Liberation Army has released a statement after the attack.In the statement the BLA said, "In Quetta, BLA's special unit Fateh Squad targeted a bus carrying Pakistani soldiers with an IED."

Attacks In Balochistan

According to Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security (PICSS) as many as 85 terrorist attacks took place in the country in May 2025. And there were 35 attacks here alone in which 51 people died and more than 100 were injured.

In these attacks about 30 civilians, 18 security personnel and 3 terrorists were among those killed.

In Balochistan on 10 July a passenger bus that was going from Quetta to Lahore was stopped by armed men and 9 passengers were kidnapped and shot dead.

The incident took place near Zhob in the Sir Dhakka area of North Balochistan, which has long been a center of extremist activities.

Zhob Assistant Commissioner Naveen Alam said, 'The attackers took the passengers off the bus, identified them and then shot 9 people.'

Independent Balochistan

A Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch had already declared independence of Balochistan from Pakistan in April. He cited decades of human rights violations, kidnappings and violence against the Baloch people as the reason behind this.

In a post on soical media Mir Yar said, 'The people of Balochistan have given their "national decision" and the world should not remain silent now. Come join us.'
