J&K: Three senior JKPS Officers transferred in major administrative reshuffle

The Jammu and Kashmir government has transferred three senior JKPS officers in a major administrative reshuffle. The changes, made in the interest of administration, take immediate effect.

Srinagar: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued transfer and posting orders for three senior officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS), with immediate effect.

As per Government Order No. 485-Home of 2025, dated 9 October, issued by the Home Department, the following transfers and postings have been made:

J&K: Major pre-poll reshuffle – 89 IAS, JKAS officers transferred

  • Sanjay Kumar Bhagat (JKPS:2001), who was serving as Commandant 14 JKAP, has been transferred and posted as AIG Buildings in place of Amit Bhasin. Bhasin shall await further posting at Police Headquarters, J&K.
  • Gh Jeelani Wani (JKPS:2001), currently serving as SSP Kupwara, has been transferred and posted as Commandant 14 JKAP, replacing Sanjay Kumar Bhagat.
  • Syed Al-Tahir Gilani (JKPS:2001), serving as Staff Officer to the DGP, J&K, has been transferred and posted as SSP Kupwara, in place of Gh Jeelani Wani.

The reshuffle was ordered in the interest of administration, and the changes take effect immediately.

The order was issued by Chandraket Bharti, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, and circulated to all relevant departments and offices, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
