“Don’t Want To Be Doctor”: 19-year-old dies by suicide on day of MBBS admission

Anurag, a resident of Nawargaon in Sindewahi taluka, had recently cleared the NEET UG 2025 examination with an exceptional 99.99 percentile.

Chandrapur: A 19-year-old student from Maharashtra's Chandrapur district died by suicide on the day he was scheduled to leave for admission to a medical college. The descesed, Anurag Anil Borkar, reportedly left a suicide note in which he expressed that he did not want to pursue a career in medicine.

Anurag, a resident of Nawargaon in Sindewahi taluka, had recently cleared the NEET UG 2025 examination with an exceptional 99.99 percentile, securing an All India Rank of 1475 in the OBC category.

Following his success, his family had been preparing for his journey to Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, to begin his MBBS course.

Suicide note recovered from the scene

According to the police, Anurag was found hanging at his home before he could leave for Gorakhpur. A suicide note was recovered at the scene. While authorities have not disclosed the note’s contents publicly, police sources confirmed that Anurag had expressed his unwillingness to become a doctor.

MCC NEET UG counselling 2025

Meanwhile, states are announcing their NEET UG 2025 round 2 seat allotment results. As per the schdule, West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) will release WB NEET UG round 2 seat allotment result 2025 on September 24, 2025.

Candidates who have applied for the counselling round can check the results through the official website of WBMCC at wbmcc.nic.in.

According to the official schedule, shortlisted candidates will complete the reporting and admission to the allotted Institute with requisite original document, college requisite fee and bond from September 24 to September 27, 2025. Upgraded candidates need to get submitted fee & document back with server generated reliving letter from previous college before moving, for admission in newly allotted college from September 24 to 27, 2025.
