Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised key BJP leaders for their party’s sweeping victories in the recently concluded municipal elections, including in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and other major cities. Fadnavis conveyed his congratulations personally through phone calls, lauding their leadership and strategic efforts in securing the party’s dominance.
In a call to Mumbai BJP chief Amit Satam, Fadnavis said, “You did really well, Amit. Many congratulations. There is nothing to worry about now. The calls reflect Fadnavis’ hands-on approach in celebrating the BJP’s success and boosting morale among party functionaries ahead of further political engagements.
BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi described the party’s strong performance, particularly in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), as a “befitting reply” to the opposition. Early trends showed the BJP leading in 98 BMC seats, emerging as the single largest party, while the Shiv Sena secured 30, giving the BJP-Shiv Sena Mahayuti alliance a total of 128 seats.
Trivedi credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the party’s growing support and called the BMC result, one of Asia’s largest municipal bodies, a historic achievement for the Mahayuti alliance.
Trivedi highlighted that Maharashtra voters, particularly Gen Z, endorsed a development-focused agenda over negative politics, aligning with the BJP’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat.” He emphasized that the electorate’s choice reflected confidence in the party’s governance model and priorities for urban development.

Trivedi also questioned the viability of the INDIA bloc, mocked ties between the TMC and Congress in Bengal, and highlighted perceived infighting among opposition parties. He criticized their strategies as divisive and anti-Hindi, asserting that voters rejected politics of negativity in favor of progress.
Beyond Mumbai, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is leading across 28 other municipal corporations, including Nagpur, Pune, Thane, Nashik, and Shambhajinagar. Fadnavis is set to celebrate the party’s victory with leaders and supporters in Nagpur, marking a high point for the BJP ahead of the upcoming political calendar in Maharashtra.
This win consolidates the BJP-Shiv Sena Mahayuti’s urban stronghold and underscores their continuing influence across Maharashtra’s key civic bodies.
