Mumbai: Mumbai is experiencing heavy rains from Monday morning, along with this severe rains flooding low-lying areas and affecting road traffic, suburban trains and metro rail services.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in the city and suburbs in the next 24 hours. Also, cloudy skies have been predicted.
According to municipal officials, Mumbai city recorded an average of 95 mm of rain, while the eastern and western suburbs received 58 and 75 mm of rain respectively. The report is till 8 am in 24 hours. A tidal wave of 4.21 meters has been predicted at 3:31 pm. After this, a tidal wave of 3.44 meters has been predicted at 3:31 am on Tuesday.
According to officials, the city and suburbs were receiving continuous rains, with many low-lying areas flooded amid heavy showers.
Suburban train services on Central and Western Railways were also running late. Some commuters claimed that train services on Central Railway were running late by 20 to 30 minutes during the morning peak hours.

Metro services on the Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova metro line were briefly affected in the afternoon when a plastic sheet fell on the overhead wire at Azad Nagar station. Services are now running normally, Mumbai Metro One reported on X. Strong winds caused a plastic sheet from a construction site to fly onto the overhead electrical line near Azad Nagar metro station, disrupting train services.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today on Monday issued an ‘Orange’ alert predicting very heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar and a ‘Red’ alert for Raigad and the ghat areas of Pune and Satara districts.
The IMD issued the District Forecast and warning for the next five days, predicting “heavy to very heavy rainfall” at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in Raigad district, along with ghat areas of Pune and Satara districts till 8:30 AM on Tuesday.
An orange alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri, and Sidhudurg districts in the Konkan region and Amravati, Bhandara, Gondia, and Nagpur districts under the Vidarbha region, predicting “heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few or isolated places.”
