Sangareddy: A major accident took place due to an explosion in the reactor unit of a drug manufacturing factory in the Sangareddy district of Telangana, in which 10 workers are feared dead so far. However, it has not been officially confirmed yet, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, so far 8 people have died in this accident. Of these, the bodies of six workers have been recovered from the spot, while two died during treatment. Apart from this, 26 people have been injured. NDRF, DRF, and SDRF teams and 10 fire brigade vehicles are deployed on the spot for relief and rescue. Rescue operations are still going on.

According to media reports, the death toll may increase further as many workers are likely to be trapped in the debris. The accident took place at Sigachi Industries in Pashamilaram at around 9:30 am. The cause of the explosion is not yet clear, but it is believed that the blast must have occurred due to sudden acceleration of chemical reaction in the reactor.
The blast was extremely powerful
According to eyewitnesses, the blast was so powerful that some workers were thrown up to 100 meters. The reactor unit has been completely damaged, and some people may be trapped under the debris. Two firefighting robots and disaster response units have also been deployed to douse the fire.
Sigachi Industries: Global presence
Sigachi Industries produces pharmaceutical powders and has been manufacturing microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) since 1989, which is used in medicine and cosmetic products. It is a white-colored, odorless, and tasteless powder. The company has five factories, and its products are exported to more than 65 countries.
Impact on the stock market
After this accident, the shares of Sigachi Industries fell by about 9.89% on the Bombay Stock Exchange, and it was trading at Rs 49.72 per share.
