New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly opposed the possible match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025. The party has called it an insult to the martyrs and victims of terrorism and has accused the central government of playing with emotions.

Kejriwal's attack on PM Modi

Former Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He wrote:

“What is the need for the Prime Minister to organize a match with Pakistan? When the whole country is opposing it, then why is this match being organized?”

Kejriwal also expressed doubt whether this decision has been taken under pressure from US President Donald Trump. He raised the question: "Is this also happening under pressure from Trump? After all, how much will you bow before Trump?"

Saurabh Bhardwaj's sharp statement

AAP's Delhi president Saurabh Bhardwaj launched a scathing attack on the government and cited the recent Pahalgam terror attack in which several security personnel were martyred. He said, “The sindoor of our 26 sisters was wiped off; the government talked about 'Operation Sindoor,' but now the same government wants to play cricket with those who spread terror.”

Bhardwaj also raised the question: “When the government used to say that business and terrorism cannot go together, then how can cricket and terrorism go together?”

Demand and warning to cancel the match

AAP leaders say that playing cricket between India and Pakistan is an insult to the martyrs and this decision is against the sentiments of the country. He demanded from the central government that: The India-Pak match should be cancelled immediately. If the decision is not reversed, AAP will launch a nationwide movement. It is not just a matter of sports; it is about emotions.

AAP's protest is not just about a cricket match, but it is related to the security of the country, respect for the martyrs, and public sentiments. The party claims that any kind of contact with Pakistan, whether in the name of sports or business, is like ignoring terrorism. Now it remains to be seen what stand the central government takes on this controversy.
